Welcome to the Studio Kin Blog
This is our first blog post, so it’s only right that I introduce myself. My name is Shaquon, and I opened Studio Kin with my business partner David in the heart of East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The idea was simple: create a place where people feel inspired and actually have the tools to create. Somewhere that doesn’t feel like a sterile white box, but like your own living room — comfortable, warm, and ready to create.
Building it Out
It started with a mood board and some Craigslist furniture. No grand plan, just a dream.
After scouring Craigslist for an affordable space, we found a cozy spot at our current home at 35 Meadow Street. Bit by bit, the studio started to come together. Then came the real handy work: painting, drilling, building. After a few weeks of TLC, it finally looked like the dream: a mid-century modern daylight photography studio with original exposed brick, large factory windows, and natural light all day.
We listed it on Peerspace and crossed our fingers.
The First Booking
One week later, a booking came in. A documentary interview production. We couldn’t believe it happened so soon.
By the end of that first year, we had 94 bookings — way more than we ever imagined. Every single one allowed us to reinvest: better equipment, better props, a better space.
What The Space Became
As of 2026, we’ve hosted over 2,000 creators, photographers, brands, content creators, and production teams. Photo shoots, film productions, interviews, dance shoots, brand campaigns, editorials, you name it. The space has a way of adapting to whatever the creative vision calls for.
What started as bare walls and borrowed furniture is now a fully equipped photo studio in East Williamsburg with colorful seamless backdrops, a styled living set, a makeup station, and natural light that creatives keep coming back for.
Grateful for every creator who has stepped foot in this space and turned it into art.
